FAQs

Where are the sizes?

We do not label our goods with arbitrary sizes. People come in all sorts of bodies, and sizing conventions are often unhelpful for choosing fit. If you commission a piece, it will be made according to your specific measurements. If a ready-to-wear piece is listed we will post the measurements of the piece lying flat, and also the measurements of any model showcasing the piece, to help you understand how it may fit on your body. Patterns (coming soon!) will be noted with sizes in centimeters and inches, as well as finished measurements of the garment.

Who is your target customer?

We do not organize our goods according to the gender of the intended wearer. If you don’t see anything in our ready-to-wear section that will suit you, please reach out using our contact form. We’d be happy to create a custom piece just right for you. Patterns (coming soon!) are grouped by type of clothing, not by gender. It is noted on the product page whether the pattern is designed to accommodate bust/no bust, wide hips/narrow hips. We are committed to including a range of patterns that people of all genders can use to create their own special clothing.

What I want is out of stock. When will you make more?

We produce our wares in small batches, focusing on commissions and one-of-a-kind pieces, in order to reduce the waste that comes with a large inventory. You may see something in our shop portfolio that has already been sold or is a project we documented to showcase a technique. If an item is out of stock, we may not be able to reproduce a piece exactly, because of limited materials. But we can work with you to design something similar that will fit your needs.

How long does it take to produce a commissioned piece?

It depends on the size and complexity of the piece, as well as our current workload. When negotiating a price for a commission, we will let you know how long we expect it to take. Then you can decide if you are willing to wait for the good stuff. Slow fashion is high-quality fashion. With a little patience, you can have a piece that will truly last.

Will you take commissions to alter clothing for a better fit?

We may take commissions to alter an existing piece of your wardrobe. It is hard to guarantee a perfect fit if we are not able to take measurements in person. We may consider providing simple alterations on an individual basis, provided you are able to video conference and communicate what exactly you want. In the future, post COVID-19 crisis, we hope to provide this as a free and safe in-person service for trans people who want their wardrobes altered to fit them as they please. Contact us with any questions about alterations.

Can I send dirty items to be mended?

The mend will be higher quality and hold better if the item is laundered first. Mending dirty fabrics may cause dirt to lodge under the mend. This speeds up degradation of your beloved object and shortens its life. So, it’s best to wash your item well before sending it to us. If you are worried that washing may cause damage to the item, such as unravelling, please communicate with us. We may be able to talk you through how to wash it with care. If we decide together that it really isn’t washable in its current state, we may agree that you can send it to us. We could then partially mend the item, wash it, and then finish the mending. Washing involves extra labor on our part, and will increase the fee we charge by a small amount.
